Former Foster Care youth Melody Centeno was dealt a very challenging hand as a child that shaped her into developing a mandate on her life to serve and empower people and youth around her. With the help of the foster care agency who raised her, she was able to be a part of a very small college scholarship:  The American Dream Program in Brooklyn, NY. The program taught her very quickly that your choices determine your outcomes of remaining a victim or a victor.  She was determined to further her education and return to the world of Social Service, no longer as a client, but as a change agent determined to tap into the lives with a similar background.  After becoming a Junior Board Member of Heart Share Saint Vincent's Services, she decided to use her resources and professional skills to engage a greater audience to support youth in care. YOU. She quickly realized that anyone willing to help others becomes "The Plug". 

On March 1, 2016, she launched an official  :Foster Care Unplugged" Campaign:

Foster Care Unplugged is focused on enriching and developing the lives of youth in foster care and is committed to developing social change to improve the outcomes of disadvantage children in NYC. The purpose for developing a Foster Care Campaign is to bring awareness on the impact of youth who experience foster care in order to promote social change to empower them.

The Mission of Foster Care Unplugged is to identify foster care youth, and develop their emotional-social skills on their journey to resiliency and success within their educational and social environment on their way to adulthood. Foster Care Unplugged understands the importance of empowering youth in their current living conditions to support them into adulthood. Foster Care Unplugged supports Heart Share Saint Vincent's Services American Dream Program in hopes that they will expand opportunities for more youth to be availed the opportunity to go to college. Each segment will profile a foster care youth child, idea or facts associated to the importance of promoting change in favor of improving educational enrichment, independent living and homelessness reduction.  blahblah blah finish and correct.
